First Light on the Water

Got up early enough to catch the sky turn from gray to pale blue to gold. The reflections on the water doubled everything. A good reason to set an alarm.

There’s a window of maybe fifteen minutes right before sunrise where the light is something special.

The lake was perfectly still. Every tree and cloud reflected on the surface so clearly it was hard to tell which way was up.

By the time the sun actually came up, the spell was broken. A breeze picked up, the reflections scattered, and the day started for real.
